Freudenberg Bladder Accumulators

Freudenberg Sealing Technologies / Tobul Bladder Accumulators are designed for industrial and commercial fluid power applications by making use of the relative compressibility of an inert gas versus a fluid, and are one of the most commonly used components in industrial and commercial fluid power systems worldwide. They are utilized for a wide variety of applications, including: energy storage, shock or pulsation dampening, leakage compensation, thermal expansion, energy conservation/supplement pump flow, noise reduction, and improved response time.

Our Bladder Accumulators are constructed of high strength seamless chrome-moly carbon steel shells, with high grade elastomeric bladders, which are assembled in accordance with ASME pressure vessel standards. Available in a variety of industry-standard capacities and pressures, the bladder type excels at absorbing system shocks and pulsations, especially those of high frequency/low modulation.

Top Repairable TBRT Models

Top repairable bladder-type designs are readily available in the marketplace, but much less commonly seen than bottom repairable units. TBRT’s are more expensive than TBR’s since an additional gas port body and anti-extrusion ring is necessary to completely seal the accumulator shell.

Top Repairable Versus Bottom Repairable:

The distinct advantage of a top repairable unit is the fact that a unit may be repaired without dismounting an accumulator from the system. As long as the unit can be isolated and the system pressure relieved, the top gas port assembly can be accessed and a replacement bladder installed.

Open Top Bladder Econolater II Models

The “EconoLator II” is a Tobul product series which is a transition from piston-type to bladder-type accumulators, and incorporates characteristics of both designs.

Utilizes a cylindrical steel cylinder with heads similar to piston-types. The fluid cap (bottom) is precision machine-welded into the steel cylinder to form a durable vessel.

Utilizes an upper cap and threaded ring assembly to retain and seal the open-topped bladder, providing a simple “top-repairable” advantage; e.g., unit does not have to be removed from a vertically mounted application in order to replace bladder as long as the accumulator can be isolated from system pressure and physically accessible.
