An OEM Customer currently had a weldment in a large piece of tillage equipment.

Problem

Customer was having issues with the mounting pins breaking.

ESP Proposal

Convert the weldment to a cost effective casting while reducing the breakage and failure in the application.

Solution

• ESP Engineering proposed a cast design combining the two weldments into one
• FEA Analysis revealed the design issue of current weldment
• Cast design moved some of the strain into other areas of the part, reducing the stress at the base of the pin
